POWERFUL PLANKTON

“POWERFUL PLANKTON”

Learn how our very lives depend on these microscopic sea creatures.

Join us on Tuesday August 24th at 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Lincoln City Cultural Center to hear from leading artists and scientists about the secret lives of the microscopic marine plants and animals that support all life on earth. Plankton provide not only food for fish and whales they

create over half of the oxygen we breathe!

Join OSU marine scientists Becky Smoak and Jennifer Fisher and renowned plankton artist Rebecca Welti at LCCC for a lively presentation and Q and A session at the intersection of the creative arts and natural sciences.

Scientists will discuss impacts of climate change on plankton including how increasing ocean temperatures here in the Pacific Northwest are affecting local plankton communities and what that means to each of us, and our artist will show her innovative work depicting the beauty and function of these remarkable creatures .
