Our signature event of the year happens again this September.
Welcome the Salmon Home
Join us at Knight Park for one of the Cascade Head Biosphere Collaborative's signature annual events as we celebrate the return of wild salmon to the Salmon River Estuary.
This mostly free, family-friendly celebration features live music, hands-on Gyotaku fish printing, children's activities, educational exhibits, salmon-inspired snacks, and opportunities to learn about the incredible natural and cultural heritage of the Salmon River. Whether you're a longtime local or visiting the Oregon Coast, everyone is welcome to share in this community tradition.
Naturalist-Guided Estuary Tours
Experience the Salmon River from the water aboard a 22-passenger, U.S. Coast Guard-certified pontoon boat during a 45-minute naturalist-guided cruise.
Journey through the lower Salmon River Estuary, where river, forest, and ocean converge to create one of Oregon's most productive ecosystems. Your guide will introduce you to the estuary's remarkable ecology, explain how tides shape this ever-changing landscape, and share stories of the Indigenous peoples, early settlers, and ongoing conservation efforts that continue to protect this special place. Along the way, you'll have opportunities to observe a variety of wildlife, including bald eagles, osprey, great blue herons, kingfishers, harbor seals, and seasonal migratory birds.
A modest registration fee helps offset the cost of operating the tours.
